The new chat-based service will combine MTS Bank's deep bench of fintech expertise with TalkBank's extensive knowhow in conversational assistants. Initially, the project envisions setting up a chat-based channel for issuing MTS-branded prepaid cards that tie into the company’s cashback and money transfer systems. In the future, the bot’s functionality is expected to be expanded to include opening accounts, making deposits, and applying for loans and insurance policies. MTS TalkBank is planned to launch by mid-2021 on the Telegram messenger platform, with plans to expand to additional messenger apps in the future.
The chat-based approach promises to provide an easy-to-use service channel based on existing software that can run on nearly any modern smart device. Via a built-in digital financial assistant, users will be able to seamlessly receive personalized offers, as well as monitor account balances and request information. Security authorization for daily transactions will be handled directly through the messenger app, while new users will be onboarded via a combined in-app and courier-based identity verification process.
